Book Giveaway!!!

Wood #21, 4"x7", acrylic, Dura-Lar on paper, 2013 copyright Mary Zeran

One of my favorite techniques from the recent Golden's Workshop with Patti Brady was creating acrylic skins. As many of your know, I love anything transparent and collage-able (that is a technical term). Since the class, I've been making and teaching how to create skins like crazy.

Patti's book is also available on North Light Shop.  I like to think of Patti's book as the "bible of acrylic painting".

This week, I am offering a copy of Patti's book "Rethinking Acrylic" to one special blog reader. All you have to do to get a chance at winning is leave a comment.  Remember to include a name!

The lucky winner will be announced on Wednesday December the 18th. Consider this an early holiday gift from me to you! Since mailing things overseas is so very, very costly, this giveaway is open to readers in the USA and Canada only.

Above are some examples some of the skins I've made. In these I used clear tar gel, but you can use lots of different gels and mediums. The possibilities are endless!

An example of student skin making!

My 2014 Workshops are now posted on my website. Want to see what I'm offering? Go to this link. You'll notice all my workshops for Winter and Spring will be in Cedar Rapids. I'm currently working on booking locations to teach at other art centers, museums, and art supplies stores in Summer and next Fall.

Want me to come to you?  Send me an email and we'll get something arranged!

Good Luck with the drawing!  I can't wait to see who wins Patti's book!

  1. I wish you could teach a class at the Glen Arbor Art Association in Michigan. We are surrounded by the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (named most beautiful place in American by Good Morning America fans) and offer adult classes in all mediums. As past president and currently serving on our Artists in Residence selection committee, I certainly can make a recommendation if you are interested!
