I do
come home
at Christmas. We
all do, or we all should. We
all come home, or ought to come
home, for a short holiday...the longer,
the better...from the great boarding school
where we are forever working at our arithmetical slates, to take,
and give a rest.
~ Charles Dickens
However you and your family celebrate the Winter Season, I wish you happiness, joy, and peace.
Cheers!

hello Miss Mary...
ReplyDeleteH a P p Y n E w Y e A r my friend!
I do like your wonderful dicken's poem VERY much... and your painting 'circular homecoming'!
Just getting round to Xmas myself... and its the 2nd of january. Bought some mince tarts today... had plum pudding a friend made tonight and am getting round to writing a few cards at last!
But the one thing I did do this year was get together with all the family and have a lovely getaway over xmas. So that has felt most restoring somehow.... the rest I will just have to catch up on.
May 2013 bring you deep fulfillment and joy!

Hello Sophie!
DeleteThank you! Whenever I read that Dicken's poem, I find myself breathing in deeply and really slowing down. This time a year is always a great chance to take the time to do those two things. So glad you spent some time with family! That is the best right?
Can't wait to see what you get up to in the coming year. You are always a huge source of inspiration!

PS, Enjoyed seeing you in action in your video. I've gotta show it to my granddaughters!
Thank you Nadia!
DeleteOver the past year, I feel like I have gotten over a hump with my work. I feel less afraid to try things and see where it takes me. Your feedback helps me feel like I am on the right track!
As for the Dicken's poem. Taking time to breathe and rest is so hard. For me especially. I love that poem because, the way it is written makes me slow down. rest... breathe....dream....I try to read it every year as a reminder.
Videos: I am having an absolute blast making those little videos! Not only have they become "teaching tools" for my students, I am learning how to "demo" in front of an "audience". It has done wonders for my teaching! and my confidence!
Happy, Happy New Year!!!
